Compatible Dev LLC (“Compatible Dev”, “we”, “us”) operates compatible.dev (the “Site”). This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site or contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to this policy.
This policy covers the Site only. Data we handle inside systems we build or operate for clients is governed by our agreements with those clients, not by this policy.
Who we are
Compatible Dev is a product engineering studio based in the United States, working with clients worldwide. For anything privacy-related, email business@compatible.dev.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you email us or otherwise get in touch, we collect what you share with us: typically your name, work email, company, a description of your stack or project, and anything else you include in a message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers collect technical information when you visit: your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, how long you stay and how you interact with the Site. This is collected through cookies, pixels and similar technologies described below.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (such as government ID numbers, financial account details or health information) through the Site, and we ask that you do not send it to us.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- respond to your inquiry and scope a project or proposal;
- provide and manage our services if you become a client;
- understand how the Site is used and improve it;
- measure and improve our own marketing, including showing you relevant ads on other platforms;
- send occasional emails about our services, which you can opt out of at any time;
- protect the Site, detect abuse and comply with legal obligations.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We use Google Tag Manager to load analytics and advertising tags on the Site. The tags currently in use are:
- Google Analytics measures how the Site is used. Google’s privacy policy
- Google Ads measures which of our ads lead to inquiries and lets us show ads to Site visitors across Google’s advertising network. Google’s privacy policy
- Meta Pixel measures the results of our ads on Facebook and Instagram and lets us reach Site visitors with relevant ads there. Meta’s privacy policy
Each of these providers may set its own cookies and receives technical information such as your IP address and your activity on the Site, which it may combine with other data under its own privacy policy.
These tags run in accounts operated by our affiliate, Compatible Group LLC, which therefore receives the same technical information.
Your options. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings; blocking cookies may affect how the Site works. You can also opt out directly with each provider:
- Google: Analytics opt-out add-on and ad settings
- Meta: ad preferences
Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of the sharing of your personal information and do not load any analytics or advertising tags for your visit. The Site does not respond to the older “Do Not Track” setting. You can also opt out of targeted advertising based on your visits here by using the controls above or emailing us.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information for money. We share it only:
- with service providers that help us run the business, such as hosting, email, analytics, advertising platforms and CRM tools, who may use it only to provide services to us;
- with advertising platforms through the pixels and tags described above, which California law may treat as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising; you can opt out as described above;
- with our affiliate, Compatible Group LLC, the marketing agency we share leadership with, where an inquiry concerns its services;
- when required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Compatible Dev, our clients or others;
- in a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
Data retention
We keep inquiry and client information for as long as needed to respond to you, provide services and maintain business records, and afterwards as required by law or our legitimate business needs. Analytics and advertising data is retained according to each provider’s settings.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, object to or restrict certain processing, or opt out of targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to delete or correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, use the cookie controls above or email us. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
Visitors from the EU, UK and similar jurisdictions. We process personal information where it is necessary to respond to your request or perform a contract, where we have a legitimate interest (such as running and improving the Site and marketing our services) that is not outweighed by your rights, with your consent, or to comply with law. You may withdraw consent at any time and have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email business@compatible.dev with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Marketing emails. Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to be removed. We may still send non-promotional messages about an active engagement.
Children
The Site is intended for business audiences and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
International visitors
We are based in the United States and process information there. If you visit from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
Third-party sites
The Site links to other websites and services, including client sites and the platforms we integrate with. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not apply to them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
